I originally planned to leave after eating.
That was the idea.
Come in, have lunch, continue with the rest of the day.
But after finishing my meal, I stayed.
Not because I was waiting for anything.
Just because leaving suddenly felt unnecessary.
The table was comfortable. The atmosphere was quiet. Around me, people continued their own routines. Someone ordered another drink. Another person opened a book. A family shared a few dishes between them.
The meal had already ended.
The moment had not.
I think that is something we overlook when talking about food.
We often focus on what arrives on the plate. The ingredients, the preparation, the flavours.
But sometimes the lasting impression comes after.
The extra few minutes spent sitting there.
The conversation that continues.
The feeling that there is no need to rush away immediately.
Those are the things that make certain places stay in our minds.
Hidden gems are not always defined by what makes them different.
Sometimes, they are defined by how easily they allow us to slow down.
Eventually, I stood up and left.
Nothing about the place had changed.
But I walked away feeling like I had experienced more than just a meal.
