The Lunch Break That Became a Tradition

At first, it was simply somewhere convenient.
Close enough to the office. Fast enough for lunch. Reliable enough that no one questioned the choice.
Weeks passed.
Then months.
Without anyone announcing it, Thursday became the day we met there.
The orders changed occasionally, but the routine didn’t.
Someone always arrived first. Another always took the corner seat. The drinks arrived before everyone had settled down.
Nothing about the place was extraordinary on paper.
But familiarity has a quiet way of becoming meaningful.
The staff began recognising faces. We stopped looking at the menu quite so closely. Conversations picked up where they had ended the week before.
The place hadn’t changed.
We had.
Perhaps hidden gems aren’t only places waiting to be discovered.
Sometimes they’re places that quietly become part of your life before you realise they’ve earned that place.
By the following Thursday, we were back again.
No discussion needed.
